Happy New Year, everyone!

I hope you all had a fabulous time celebrating with your loved ones. I’m so happy to be back teaching again, and I have lots of exciting things lined up for the year ahead, including:

New Class Announcement🎉

By popular demand, I’ll be starting a Monday Midday Yoga Class (12–1 pm) from Monday, 26th January.

  • Mixed ability class

  • Held in the Stag Room in the Woollard Centre, Buckhurst Hill

  • Refer-a-friend offer: Refer a friend and once they have attended, I will send you a £5 off discount code as a thank you, making your next class £10

Wednesday Evening Venue Change

From Wednesday 14th January, our Wednesday evening class will be moving from St John’s to the Main Hall at the Woollard Centre.

This is a much bigger space, giving you more room for your own practice. There is on-site parking available.

A 10-Part Yoga Series: The Yamas & Niyamas 📖

This year, we’ll be exploring a 10-part yoga series focused on the Yamas and Niyamas, with one principle each week. This will help you deepen your understanding of yoga beyond the physical practice.

This Week’s Class Theme: New Year

I hope everyone enjoyed this week’s classes and the chamomile tea! This time of year can quickly feel overwhelming, with New Year’s resolutions and constant messaging telling us we need to change overnight.

While setting goals can be wonderful, it’s equally important to reflect on what sustainable and healthy changes feel right for you, and to break them down into small, achievable steps.

Choose a Word for 2026

Something I love to do every year is choose a word of the year. This word represents how I’d like the year ahead to feel.

Start by choosing a word that embodies what you want 2026 to be for you. Write it down somewhere visible - on your mirror, fridge, desk, or anywhere you’ll see it daily. This gentle reminder can help guide your choices and intentions throughout the year.

My word for 2026 is: Love ❤️

Learning to love myself more deeply, and spreading more love out into the world, in the hope of attracting more love back in.

Your 2026 Yoga Goals

This is also a good time to reflect on what you’d like to explore or deepen in your yoga practice this year. Your goals might include:

  • Improving balance

  • Listening to your body more

  • Relaxing just 1% more in each class

Write your yoga goals down somewhere you’ll see often, or share them with a friend to help stay motivated and accountable.

Deepen Your Practice Through Yogic Philosophy

Throughout the year, I’ll be sharing more teachings on yogic philosophy. Understanding these principles can bring deeper meaning to your physical practice, breathwork, and mindfulness.

Remember: your practice is your practice. Yoga philosophy offers guidance, but you can always choose what resonates with you and what feels supportive on your own journey.

Next Week: Yamas & Niyamas Series Begins

Next week, we’ll begin our 10-part Yamas and Niyamas series.

But first… what are they?

The Yamas and Niyamas are the first two limbs of yoga. Each consists of five principles that guide how we relate to the world and to ourselves. (More on all eight limbs of yoga in a future blog!)

The Five Yamas (how we treat the world)

  • Ahimsa – Non-violence

  • Satya – Truthfulness

  • Asteya – Non-stealing

  • Brahmacharya – Moderation

  • Aparigraha – Non-attachment

The Five Niyamas (how we treat ourselves)

  • Saucha – Cleanliness

  • Santosha – Contentment

  • Tapas – Discipline

  • Svadhyaya – Self-study

  • Ishvara Pranidhana – Surrender

Book Recommendation 📚

If you’d like to explore these themes further outside of class, I highly recommend:

The Yamas and Niyamas: Exploring Yoga’s Ethical Practice by Deborah Adele

It’s an accessible and insightful read, and it pairs beautifully with the weekly class themes. I’ll be rereading each section throughout the series (for the third time!) and would love for you to join me.

Here's a link to purchase the book on Amazon:

How the Series Will Work

Over the next 10 weeks, we’ll explore one principle per week, giving you time to truly connect with each concept and bring it into your practice and daily life.

There will also be a few pauses along the way to allow for celebrations such as Valentine’s Day.

Next week’s theme: Ahimsa (Non-violence)

We will be exploring how kindness and compassion can guide our thoughts, words, and actions, both on and off the mat.

I can’t wait to begin this journey with you 🤍

See you on the mat,

Eloise x
