Hello everyone,
I hope you are all well. Thank you so much for the lovely response to last week’s sobriety post. It has been wonderful hearing your stories, and it means a lot to have such a supportive community.
I plan our class themes weeks and they always seem to come at just the right time for me. Over the past few weeks, I have been experiencing a fibromyalgia flare-up, which is a chronic pain condition, meaning my symptoms have been heightened. More than ever, I have needed to practice self-compassion, and it feels lovely to be able to share that message with you all.
This week in class, we have been focusing on our Heart Chakra💚This is our energy centre for love, compassion, forgiveness and inner peace. It is about cultivating openness to emotional healing.
I love teaching about love, especially self-love, as we so often give love to those around us and forget to give it to ourselves first. I know it is much easier said than done, but even small moments of mindfulness throughout the day, along with practising affirmations, can make such a difference.
As the queen of drag says:
“If you can’t love yourself, how the hell are you gonna love somebody else?” – RuPaul 🌈
This week’s affirmation: I am open to love and compassion.
Perhaps write it on a Post-it note and pop it on your mirror as a daily reminder to be compassionate towards yourself.
I hope you all enjoyed the Pukka Night Time Berry tea I handed out in class. Thursday students, you are getting yours tonight🍓☕
No Lesson Next Monday
I will not be teaching on Monday, 13th October, as I will be away. However, I will be teaching on Wednesday and Thursday that week, so you are more than welcome to join those classes instead.
I will pause the Chakra Series that week so we can continue it together the following week.
If you are on a class block and usually attend on Mondays, I will extend your pass by a week to make up for the missed class.
Off to Athens!
I am off to Athens, Greece, for five days with my best friend, and I am very excited. I have been lucky enough to visit many of the Greek islands and even trained in Greece, but never the capital, so I am really looking forward to exploring the city and soaking up its rich history and culture.
We have family friends over there who I lovingly refer to as my Greek grandparents, Kostas and Pitsa. I hope to visit them while I am there as well. I will be sure to write a little Greece blog next week.
Preparing the Garden for Winter and Spring 🌷
I absolutely love gardening. It is the ultimate act of grounding and mindfulness. Sometimes you really do just need to touch grass!
This week I planted winter pansies and cyclamen, along with loads of spring bulbs such as daffodils, different varieties of tulips, alliums and crocuses. Pink tulips are my absolute favourite flower.
Last year, I did not plant nearly as many bulbs, so this year I have gone all out and filled every space I could. Something to look forward to from February onwards.
Next Week’s Theme: Listening 👂
Next week, our theme will be Listening. This is about listening to others, but most importantly, listening to our own bodies and minds.
Have you been to Greece before? I would love your recommendations.
