Hey everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed this week’s classes and the Valentine’s chocolates! 🍫💕

I love love. And this week is all about loving others and loving ourselves.

If you have a partner, take a moment to ask them to be your Valentine, even after years together. Small gestures like this go a long way and help keep the romance alive.

And Valentine’s Day gifts do not need to be elaborate to be meaningful. Even making them a cup of tea in the morning or handwriting a little note is such a lovely gesture.

So often in the media and in films, love is portrayed as romantic love. But loving our friends, our family and our community, and letting them know how much they mean to us, is just as important.

And then there is self-love. Taking a moment to check in with our own needs. It can be something as simple as repeating a morning affirmation in the mirror, slowing down your breath, stepping outside for fresh air or choosing rest when you need it. Self-love does not have to be grand; it can be gentle and consistent.

Reflection question: What if you could offer yourself the same kindness, patience, and warmth that you so easily give to others?

Love is not always perfect. It has its ups and downs. It asks for patience, understanding and effort. It asks us to nurture it. And sometimes the hardest part is allowing ourselves to receive love, to believe we are worthy of it.

Intention: I open my heart to love, for myself and others.

A lyric from the song Nature Boy, sung by Nat King Cole and composed by Eden Ahbez, says,

“The greatest thing you will ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.”

Celebrations

I made 11 Valentine’s cards for friends and brought flowers to those I have seen this week, just a gentle reminder to share a little love where you can 🌷

One of my best friends even hosted a beautiful Galentine’s brunch. She and her partner created the most gorgeous decorations, and the pancakes were delicious. It was such a special reminder that when you put love out into the world, it really does come back to you.

And thank you all so much for your kind words about my second anniversary of Yoga by Eloise 🤍

I went out to celebrate with my best friend Emilie. When I made the booking, I specified that it was an anniversary lunch, and the restaurant presented us with a card congratulating us on our relationship. We just went along with it, because you gotta love your friends! 😂

Love shows up in so many forms. Romantic, friendship, community and self. However you are celebrating it this week, I hope you find small moments to both give and receive it.

Next week’s class theme: Aparigraha (letting go)

This is the last of our five Yamas of yoga and is all about non-greed and releasing what is no longer serving us.

See you on the mat next week,

Eloise x
