Exploring Satya: Yoga, Truth & My Podcast Guest Story

Hey everyone,
I hope you’ve all had a lovely week so far!
For those who came along to my Wednesday classes, I hope you enjoyed practising in the new hall. It’s much bigger, and I’m excited to plan some fun lessons where we can all move around the mat a bit more.
Satya (truthfulness)
This week’s class theme has been Satya (Sat-ya), translating to truthfulness🧘♀️ Satya is the second of the five Yamas (external restraints) and is centred around honesty of the body, speech, and mind, creating harmony between what we think, what we feel, and what we say.
A quote that really captures the essence of Satya is from Gandhi:
“Life is an experiment of truth.”
Living in truth is not always easy. Sometimes it is the riskier option, and sometimes it can hurt. But Satya invites us to pause and reflect on how we express our truth.
Can we be honest while also being kind?
This links beautifully back to last week’s theme of Ahimsa (nonviolence), speaking what is true to us with compassion the first time, rather than needing to explain ourselves again later.
How I Incorporate Satya into My Life
Living with the chronic illness, fibromyalgia, has taught me the importance of regularly checking in with myself and asking, what does my mind and body need right now? 💭
As it is a management condition, this awareness is essential in staying on top of my symptoms.
If something in my life, such as a disagreement or situation, does not feel true to me, my body is always the first to let me know. One unexpected gift of living with this condition is how deeply it has encouraged me to practise honesty, not only with myself but also with those around me. It is not always easy, and I am not perfect, but it is about showing up for ourselves and doing our best.
Intention: I create space for self-reflection and inner truth.
I was a Guest on a Podcast 🎙
Earlier this year, I was a guest on the Sisterhood in Session podcast, which I recorded via Zoom.
I met Sarah Ridge, the founder of the Sisterhood Networking Group, late last year, and she invited me to share my story, my journey living with fibromyalgia, how I created Yoga by Eloise on my own, and why I do what I do.

It was such a lovely conversation, and I felt really special to reflect on the path that has brought me here. If you would like to hear more about Yoga by Eloise and my journey, I would love for you to give it a listen.
Thank you so much for all the kind words about the podcast; it truly means a lot. Although I am very open about my health in class and on the blog, sharing my story on a podcast felt different. It brought me back to some darker times in my life.
That said, I am incredibly proud of what I have achieved, despite the cards I have been dealt. Living with this condition has made me stronger, more compassionate, and more understanding, and I probably would not be doing what I am doing today if it were not for it. Here’s the link to listen:
Next week’s class theme: Asteya (non-stealing)
Asteya invites us to stop stealing from the present moment or from other people’s ideas, and instead allow ourselves to be inspired. It encourages us to shift our focus inward and notice all the exciting things already unfolding within our own lives.
I’m so excited to start my new Monday midday classes next week!

See you on the mat next week,

I’d love to hear - how do you practise honesty in your life? Comment below.

“Life is an experiment of truth.” These sage words really made me reflect. Thank you.
Absolutely loved the Sisterhood podcast - well done Eloise
I am certainly gonna try being truthful but kind going forward ❤️❤️❤️
Lovely post, Eloise. This part especially resonated with me : “speaking what is true to us with compassion the first time, rather than needing to explain ourselves again later.”
