Going With the Flow

Hey everyone,

I hope you have all been enjoying my recent classes and the sleepy tea I handed out last week!

Here’s a little recap of the last two themes we’ve explored:

Appreciation

Appreciation means pausing and being grateful for what is. It grounds us in the present moment instead of constantly thinking 10 steps ahead.

It’s about appreciating your life, your loved ones and, most importantly, yourself. I really like to emphasise this in my teaching by shifting our focus towards what our bodies can do, rather than what they can’t.

This is really important to me personally, as living with fibromyalgia means that sometimes even simple daily tasks and movement can be challenging. That’s why I think it’s so important to celebrate all the wins, whether they’re big or small.

Yoga itself is an act of appreciating your body. It allows us to slow down, listen to what our bodies need and be grateful for everything they allow us to experience.

Intention: I appreciate myself.

Surrender

Surrender, to me, means letting go of the things that are outside of our control and riding the wave of life.

It can often be mistaken for giving up or weakness, but true surrender is actually a powerful act of trust. It’s recognising that we are not always in control (even though we often want to be!) — and that’s okay.

Like surfing a wave, sometimes the only way through is to ride it out rather than fight against it. Surrender reminds us to soften into the present moment and accept things as they are.

I definitely feel like a hypocrite at times because I need to learn to take my own advice! 😂 Letting go is hard, but by becoming more conscious of it, I’m slowly getting better at releasing things that are no longer serving me.

I particularly notice this with my fibromyalgia. When I’m in a flare-up, I can rush to do a million things to try and make myself feel better, then get frustrated when they don’t work.

The analogy of riding the wave has really helped me to stop fighting it, do what I can without pushing myself too hard, and allow the symptoms to gradually drift into the background.

Intention: I surrender to the flow of life.

My Strength Yoga Workshop 💪

There are now only 3 spaces left in my Strength Yoga Workshop on Saturday 26th September, 11 am–1 pm at the Woollard Centre.

The workshop will include a 90-minute full-body intermediate Vinyasa-style class, followed by a calming meditation and Savasana. We’ll also have tea and cake afterwards to connect with our lovely community!

I’ve had a few students ask whether they’ll be able to do the class because it’s intermediate, and the answer is YES!

I’ll still offer options throughout the practice so you can find variations that work best for your body. I’ll just be teaching at a slightly quicker pace and focusing more on strength-building poses, with some more advanced poses for anyone wanting to challenge themselves.

If we wobble or take a different variation, all options are equally valid. It’s about having fun, exploring new poses and seeing what your body can do.

If you’d like to join me, book your space here:

I’m very much looking forward to sharing this practice with you! 🤍

Life Lately🌸

To write this section, I usually have to scroll back through my camera roll and calendar to remember what I’ve been up to. I definitely have the memory of a goldfish! 😂

I went with my dad to Cotswold Outdoor in Spitalfields for a running and gait analysis, as my physio recommended I get some more supportive running shoes following my ankle nerve injury.

The service was amazing, and I had my running recorded on the treadmill to analyse how I run and which shoes would be best for me. It turns out I run neutrally and scored highly across all the points, which was really reassuring.

I ended up with the Brooks Ghost 18 shoes, which are great and so bouncy! I’d highly recommend this service if you enjoy running.

I’m pretty sure my ankle nerve pain has healed now, although it can be difficult to know whether some of the pain there is fibromyalgia pain as well. I’m slowly introducing running again, going back to Week 3 of Couch to 5K so I can monitor how my ankle responds.

I’m very happy to be running again! 🏃‍♀️

I also had a lovely early morning trip to Columbia Road Flower Market with my mum last weekend. Literally my definition of heaven! I’m obsessed with flowers and ended up buying a few bouquets for myself and my loved ones.

We also explored Brick Lane and visited Spitalfields City Farm, which is super cute if you ever get the chance to go.

I’m currently in the research and planning phase of expanding Yoga by Eloise into the corporate world. I’m looking forward to bringing yoga, desk yoga, mindfulness and meditation workshops into workplaces and helping make wellbeing a bigger part of the working day.

It’s a really exciting next step for Yoga by Eloise, and I’m excited to see this side of the business grow. Don’t worry, I’ll still be continuing all of my local classes and workshops too! 🤍

Next Week’s Theme: Self-Love 💕

Just a little reminder that there will be no classes next Monday, as I’m unable to hire the hall on bank holiday Mondays. However, I’ll still be teaching my Wednesday and Thursday evening classes.

For anyone who attends my Monday classes and is on a 6-class plan, I’ll extend your plan by an additional week so you don’t lose out on your class.

I’ll be heading to stay with my family in Norfolk over the bank holiday weekend, and I’m especially excited to spend some more time with my little nephew! 🥰

I hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend.

See you on the mat next week,

Eloise x
