Slowing Down to Appreciate the Little Things in Life

Hi everyone,
I hope you have all enjoyed this week’s classes so far! What’s the current weather? We need the sun!!! ☀️
Compliments
Last week’s theme was compliments. Whenever I’m out, it’s my personal mission to compliment as many people as I can, because kind words from strangers often mean more than those from loved ones. Compliments help us recognise our own worth, and by acknowledging goodness in others, we deepen connection and build community. Here’s a reminder: give more compliments and brighten someone’s day! Notice how giving a compliment opens your heart just as much as receiving one❤️
Intention: I choose to see the light in myself and others.
Journaling prompt: What compliments do you often give to others but struggle to give to yourself? 📝
Time
This week’s theme is time. Yoga lets us pause and be present as time moves forward. We learn that growth is gradual and change is part of life.
Sometimes it feels like there aren’t enough days in the week, and even if there were more, it still might not feel like enough. This week is a reminder to pause and reflect on how we spend our time. Often, the most valuable thing we can do is rest, recharge, and be fully present. When we slow down, we begin to notice the little things, and those small moments often bring the greatest joy.
Intention: I allow myself to slow down.
In class, I’ve been playing a song by Chantress Seba called Om Shanti Om. The phrase Om Shanti Om means “peace in body, mind, and spirit.” I’ll include links to Spotify and a YouTube recording of the song. It’s really beautiful to see the music played live on YouTube - I absolutely love handpan music! 🎶
A Little Catch-up
Last blog, I was so excited to say I’m now a runner, having completed the first three runs of Couch to 5K! 🏃♀️ Unfortunately, the week after, I stubbed my toe badly. I may have walked into a wall… but I’m trying to convince myself the wall walked into me 😅 I’ve been taking time to rest my little toe and making sure to prioritise strength training and my own yoga practice, which has been lovely.
Last weekend, I was lucky enough to spend time with some of my students who’ve become good friends. On Saturday, I went shopping with one student, and on Sunday, another student, who is training to be a masseuse, gave me a back massage💆♀️ I’m very proud of her and excited for her new career. That evening, I had two of my students, now besties, over for craft night and dinner🎨 I’m so grateful for this lovely community!
I’m so excited for the coming weekend as I will be going to my parents’ home in Norfolk with my family. Including my nephew August, who’s nearly 18 months old! We are going to take him to see Father Christmas 🎅🎄 My mission for the weekend is to get him saying “Auntie” the most important word by the end of the trip!
Here are some pictures from my camera roll, including a selfie of both sets of grandparents. It’s so lovely to have family together:
Next week’s theme: Community 🤝
Next week, we will focus on the importance of community and celebrating the Yoga by Eloise community!
I look forward to seeing you all on the mat next week. Be sure to bring your blanket, jumper, or cosy socks so you can get all comfy in Savasana.
