Hello everyone 😊
I hope you are all having a fabulous week and enjoying this mini heatwave🌞 Fingers crossed the weather stays like this, but knowing ‘sunny’ England, that might be a bit optimistic!
It has been two weeks since the last newsletter. They might not come out every week, as I’m sure many of you understand - life gets busy sometimes. Honestly, where does the time go? I’ll be writing and sharing these whenever I get the chance and have something meaningful to pass along 💌
Surrender mantra from last week 🎵
Last week in our surrender-themed class, we listened to the mantra Om Namah Shivaya, which means I bow to Shiva - a symbol of our inner or higher self. The version we listened to was by Chantress Seba, an artist I truly love. Her voice is so calming, and the handpan music creates such a peaceful atmosphere. I listen to her almost every day.
You can also find her on YouTube, where she shares hour-long recordings perfect for meditation and relaxation
This week’s theme: Svadhyaya (self-study) 🪷
This week’s theme in class was Svadhyaya (pronounced Swad-hya-ya), which means self-study or introspection. It is one of the five Niyamas from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and encourages us to turn inward, reflect on our thoughts, observe our habits, and uncover deeper truths
The practice is not about judgment but about awareness and understanding. You may notice parts of yourself that you don’t always view positively (for example, I’m stubborn as hell 😅). Svadhyaya invites us to meet these parts with kindness and compassion. It also reminds us that we are in the driver’s seat, especially in our own inner worlds, so we might as well make it a nice place to be.
In today’s fast-paced world, where we’re constantly busy and often scrolling, this practice encourages us to pause, breathe, and really check in with ourselves
Intention of the Week: I turn inward to meet myself with compassion
A thoughtful gift 🎁
One of my lovely clients brought me back a fridge magnet from her recent trip to Venice. Earlier this year, she also gave me a keyring from Costa Rica. I feel so grateful to be surrounded by such thoughtful and generous students. Hearing about her adventures always brings me joy and inspiration 🌍
